Hunt the Umph (border): An unusual 7 person dance with the seventh person representing the ‘umph’. The favourite figure amongst the girls is ‘Go shopping’. Collected from an unknown source.

Music to lead on, train music to lead off

Lead on

chorus figure (line up reverse order i.e. No. 7 comes on first) 4 clashes (top of stick) with person facing if no-one to face you should be casting to opposite end!

Shopping

No. 1 dances a figure of 8 between 4 and 5 who then follow, round No.7 and back through middle gap, 4 & 5 fall back in place, No. goes to top.

Chorus - No. 1 casts whilst others clash with opposites, after every 4 clashes all turn 180 degrees right repeat until No. 1 back to top.

Hey - 2 loud steps each direction followed by 4 quiet steps. All go left to start and pass 6 people, 7th pass is quiet (should be half way) Repeat back to place. Watch the lines!

Stars- No.1 weaves to bottom via stars, each star is 4 steps. First star (or turn if you are a pair) right 3/4, then left hand star half way, right hand star half way, left hand star 3/4.

Train - all turn to own left and dance 4 steps out, No.1 starts a Grand Chain (goes to No.2), when at the bottom of the 'set' form one line (No. at front) put sticks down horizontally and take hold stick in front of you, then chug off! Music may or may not change to Runaway Train!
